As you sleep

As you sleep, I'll shake
my heart out wide
and throw it over you.
Tuck it in at the corners.

Lucy, you have done it again. This is so touching.

I have been saving 'sleep' quotes to embroider on a bedroom curtain. Lucy, can I save this too? Would you mind?

This is the best lullaby I've ever read. Comforting even for those for whom it was not written.

A thought so simply and beautifully put into words.

Sparse. Yet full. Broad. Yet deep. Wonderful!

Really gorgeous. I'm imagining it on that curtain now too. May I use it for a song?

You are all lovely. Anyone may use it for anything they like and I would be deeply honoured.

Have you not heard of the second person blogular?! Yes, poems may be written to certain people, but the act of posting/publishing, makes them belong to all...

That's lovely. Just a hint of sadness and sacrifice behind the sweetness.

The sight of someone sleeping nearly always evokes tenderness especally if he or she is loved and not snoring.

Lucy, this just points out the perfection of the small poems. Yes indeed, what they all said. I agree. And what you said too, about second person blogular. I mean my stuff that way too, am most pleased when my readers tend to take my poems personally.

I want to believe that we can make a difference with each other, that life can become more meaningful, that this is not just a game and a time waster. I am sure on my best days that this global engagement across the web is important and personal.

And word verification says to me:
disicat
I presume that distinct from
daticat
meaning the cat who is near rather than the cat who is farther away.

Now that really soothes me..

Now, what would you say after all that if I were to tell you it was about Molly? ;~)

Plutarch - yes, not snoring is something of a prerequisite, though in fact Molly snores and I find it most endearing... dogs must snore on a different frequency from humans.

Christopher - I thought of your 'you' which seems to knock at heaven's gate... and I love disicat and daticat.

Hliza - lovely to see you, glad you liked it.

There is something for it I think those word long spoken by another. 'Love is a many splendored thing,' and of it your words are one.
Warmest regards,
Simone.

Having had the sweetest dog companion myself, I would not find this poem at all odd to be addressed to Molly! It is lovely.
